Angel Food Ministry
As part of the outreach mission of the Rincon Church of God, the church’s C.A.R.E (Concern,
Acceptance, Responsibility and Encouragement) Board is now an Angel Food Ministries
order and distribution site. Began in 1994 with 34 families in Monroe, Ga., Angel Food
Ministries is a non-profit, non-denominational organization dedicated to providing grocery
relief and financial support to communities throughout the United States. The ministry has
grown to serve hundreds of thousands of families every month across 32 states.
This ministry allows anyone, regardless of income, to purchase high-quality groceries at half
the cost of retail stores. There are no second-hand items, no damaged or out-dated goods,
no dented cans without labels, no day-old breads and no produce that is almost too ripe.
Each month, participants can purchase a unit of food (which consists of about 15-17 items) at
a cost of $30. Generally, one unit of food assists in feeding a family of four for about one week
or a single senior citizen for about a month. Each month’s menu is different than the previous
month and consists of both fresh and frozen items. Participants who purchase a food unit may
also purchase specialty boxes – such as steaks, chicken and pork. There is no limit to the
number of units or bonus foods an individual can receive, and there are no applications to
complete or qualifications to which participants must adhere. Food stamps are also accepted
as payment.
Orders can be placed during regular church office hours, Monday – Friday, 9 am - 5 pm or
after the Sunday morning service in the church office. Payment is due when ordering. For a

Orders for the May menu are due by August 11. Distribution is scheduled for August 23.
